A small place for me to hopefully give status reports on mods for Demigod that I shall work on.
Info on new Demigods and actual gameplay.

I don't think they would add more skills... That would mean changing the maximum level... More demigods with new skills yes, but adding more skills doesn't work in my mind...
on Aug 06, 2008
No it doesn't mean higher max level.

It just means a higher number of choices since you couldn't max them all.

Which something I'm hoping they don't do personally:

A) It makes it so eventually every demigod can do everything, every demigod can be a good a tanker as a dpser, to the point where one might as well just pick based on looks alone..
Distracts as it takes time to read every skill and then decide.
C) Makes the game less noob friendly.
D) And why not just add another demigod?

E) leads to real choices
F) creates more diverse gameplay

I agree with this.

@ Mooey:
It seems that there will be plenty of single player options to get used to the available skills. And I doubt you will be able to "make it so eventually every demigod can do everything" because there will probably be a level cap and/or the game won't last long enough to get every skill.

Even if you can eventually get every skill, you'd still have to make a skill choice based on your strategy at each level up. You won't instantly go from level 1 to level 50 (or whatever the level cap is).

First, Thank you TBO.

Next, I meant it that you could pick any demigod and fill any roll (but not necessarily at the same time)

Well i would like a lot of skills to choose from, but only few to actually use so you can individualise your character.
What is really important is that the skills have synergies when used (i.e. combos), so that spamming one good skill will get you nowhere.
Whatever they (the devs) do the result should be:
(i) Unique Demigods (i.e. unique to each others but also unique to their opponent controlled "clones")
(ii) No useless skills
(iii) a lot of possibilities to plan around each demigod, that means skills and equipment (i.e. min/maxing)
(iv) No spammable skills, have variety, synergies, combos ect.

Oftopic: Many complaints about the dota Heroes arise from the way Warcraft 3 attributes work (i.e. int, dex, str) and i hope that Demigod won´t go in that direction.
on Aug 07, 2008
Items should take care of point 1, and 4 is kinda duh in this game, they're not gonna make a demigod with no self synergy.

I highly doubt they went the str dex int way, as does anything along those lines appear on the rook stat card?

I don't want ever Demigod to be able to do everything like every class can in WoW depending on how you spec.

I hope out of the 10 skills you get without items that you can only max 50%-75% of them so you have to decide between them.
on Aug 08, 2008
I would much rather that you choose the order in which you get them, and be able to max all of them, I think this is where we disagree and we'll just leave it at that?
on Aug 08, 2008
Hey all,

Couple answers and insights on this one:

Demigods cannot take all of their skills during a game.
Each Demigod features a unique play style.
We do not employ a strength, intelligence and dexterity model.

Thats good news TyoArk

YAY! for more Tyo info!

Anyways, while not what I was hoping for, I must say that I'm perfectly fine with it as long as it isn't too much variation (I don't like the idea of one demigod able to be any role it wants).

That and I have confidence in GPG and Tyo.

Would you mind telling us though is it split into trees or is it one tree?
on Aug 08, 2008
well, moEyThEcOw then i have to disagree with you there is nothing better then variation. (I love endless possibilities of min/maxing)

In another thread he said 83.3_%
I believe this is max level of 25 and you have 30 skill points worth of skills.
Of course it could be 50/60, 75/90/, 100/120, but i'm quite sure it's 25/30.
